Apple Cake (February 20, 2019)

This apple cake was a hit! It's light, fluffy, and full of flavor!


For the purposes of Farm-to-Fork and to accommodate our students, we did not include eggs in our recipe this week! We used Kentucky Proud cake mix and followed the listed directions on the box to prepare this super decadent cake (below). In addition to the given recipe, added in some apple slices and apple cider to ramp up the flavor and make this the ultimate apple cake!


Ingredients:

3 1/4 Cup Kentucky Proud Cake Mix

1/2 Cups Vegetable oil

4 Cups Water

4 Eggs

1/3 Cup Apple Cider


Directions:

1. Preheat oven 350 degrees.

2. Grease baking pans and flour lightly.

3. Blend cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl until moistened.

4. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes with mixer.

5. Pour batter into baking pans.

6. For 9x13 pan, cook 18-22 minutes. Cool in pans on wire racks for 15 minutes after baking

7. Remove cake from pans and let cool completely before enjoying!
